Fitness Goals

At the start of the year, I set a couple of running goals. The first was to run in a 10K on March 12th; the second, to run a half marathon on June 11th.

I did really well with my training. I ran about three days a week, starting with 2 or 2.5 miles, then 3 miles, then 4, and then, a month ago, I ran 5 miles straight for the first time in my life. I was excited about the race and ready to add that last 1.2 miles in. The next day, my treadmill broke. Two repairman visits and one month later, it's finally working again (thank goodness for warranties!), but not in time for the race.

Good luck to my friends who are still running on Saturday!

However, I am determined to get in shape before my next pregnancy. This morning, I got back in the game and ran 2.5 miles. And then, putting my fears and doubts aside, I signed up for this race. I'm in for 13.1 miles of beautiful scenery along the Provo River. I'm in for 12 weeks of intense training. I'm in for a stronger heart and body, and hopefully a skinnier one too.

I'm hoping to feel like this when I'm done:

Anyone want to join me? The race is June 11th and the price is $49 if you register today. Tomorrow, the price increases to $59.

Good for you!! I'd love to say I'm in...but I'm just not there yet. I used to love running, but it's been a LONG time. I'm excited to hear about your training and the race!

That's awesome, Christina! Good luck, I know you can do it! Also, just wanted to tell you how neat it was to see your picture on the church's main website!

Elizabeth, do you mean the picture of Sarah that was there a few weeks ago or is there a new photo of mine being used? And thanks for the encouragement; I need it!

I'd definitely be there if we were in the area! Good for you! I'm excited that you already signed up for the race too, that's my trick! I started doing Triathlons after our last baby (I'm highly dependent on my treadmill too, so my heart sank when I heard about yours!), and there's nothing more motivating then know you want to be in good shape when you get pregnant again, and knowing if you don't train that you'll 1/either go and be scrapped off the pavement after you collapse or 2/lose the money that you've invested.

So excited for you!!

I think that is just awesome! I ran my first half marathon last year and was a little sad I couldn't train for one this year! I am still hoping to run a 10K in the fall. We'll see if I can get back in shape in time! You will do great!

That is a new goal of mine. I just started running, too.

By the way, this is the second blog I read today... and both of you authors speak of having a new goal that I also have. :O kind of weird, and cool. :) ...wonder what the next blog will be about! LOL

Good luck!
Corine :D
