An Idaho Sunset (Nearly Wordless Wednesday)

We've had a full and busy summer and I've loved it.  I'm hoping once the kids go back to school (sophomore, 8th, 6th, 5th, 5th, 2nd, 1st, and preschool), I'll have time to cover some of the fun and wonderful things that have happened, as well as some of the, well, not-so-wonderful things.

My husband took six of the kids (Michael through Katie) on his annual Daddy Trip this week.  They're making a loop along the gorgeous central coast of California and having a grand time.  Meanwhile, I have Joey and Cami with me (Lillian's in New York at Camp Rising Sun, but more on that later), and we decided to go on an adventure of our own.

We spent two days exploring parts of Idaho that I'd never or not recently seen, including Craters of the Moon and the Snake River Gorge.  Joey did a lot of fishing -- he's kind of amazing and knowing what kind of bait and which gear he should use in each waters.  He catches a lot, then releases them ('cause yuck!  Fish taste gross).  I loved spending time with people I love -- Joey and Cami, as well as our friend Hailey who we cheered on at a Triathlon in Idaho Falls.

I also enjoyed taking in the beautiful Idaho landscapes.  I grew up on two acres surrounded by farmland and my favorite place to go as a child was my grandparent's dairy farm near Preston, Idaho.  So I'm a good old Idaho farm girl at heart.

I got some bad news on Friday morning.  So it was especially meaningful to me that Friday evening, at sunset, we were able to pull off the freeway on our way to Pocatello and find ourselves at a lovely alfalfa field in bloom.  What's more, God put on a show for us.  This was no ordinary sunset.

Sure, I love Utah, but there is nothing like an Idaho sunset -- nothing.

Don't you agree?
