Don't Carpe Diem (Friday Favorites)

Thanks to my sister-in-law for sharing this -- so much wisdom:

Don't Carpe Diem

Some of my favorite parts:

And so I think that if there were people stationed, say, every thirty feet along Mount Everest yelling to the climbers – “ARE YOU ENJOYING YOURSELF!? IF NOT, YOU SHOULD BE! ONE DAY YOU’LL BE SORRY YOU DIDN’T!” TRUST US!! IT’LL BE OVER TOO SOON! CARPE DIEM!” - those well-meaning, nostalgic cheerleaders might be physically thrown from the mountain.

Craig is a software salesman. It’s a hard job in this economy. And he comes home each day and talks a little bit about how hard it is. And I don’t ever feel the need to suggest that he’s not doing it right, or that he’s negative for noticing that it’s hard, or that maybe he shouldn’t even consider taking on more responsibility. And I doubt anybody comes by his office to make sure he’s ENJOYING HIMSELF. I doubt his boss peeks in his office and says: “This career stuff…it goes by so fast…ARE YOU ENJOYING EVERY MOMENT IN THERE, CRAIG???? CARPE DIEM, CRAIG!”

So true! I've told even my husband before, "Well, sure I love my job, but everyone needs a break. Do you want to sleep on your office floor 24/7?"

And don't get me started on those, "Oh, I wish I had twins! I always wanted twins!" comments I continually got when I had tiny twins and was frazzled. Then I wish them upon you!

Funny, I'd never heard of this blog before today and you're the third person to pass it my way! I especially love the kairos part at the end. carpe kairos!
That was a fun post! I hadn't heard of that blog before either. I actually love being a mom, at least every other day. :)

And in response to Dina's comment, I'm one of those people that always wanted twins. Though I'd like to skip the first 6 sleep deprived months and the potty training. :)

Hope you're doing well!

LOL! I love this!
No one "enjoys it ALL." I recall reading a fabulous poem about a person who is happy when x happens, and happy when y happens... and you think the person is simply a psychological wonder woman! Then the final line tells you that this person is insane! LOL :o After saying all of this though, I won't pretend to "enjoy it all" but striving to find joy among the chaos IS WHAT I DO! :o LOL :D And I'm glad for that... :)

Thanks for posting...
